My lovely hubbie gifted me with a KitchenAid (omg!) for Christmas, and I couldn't have been more thrilled. First thing I made were doggie treats; unfortunately, not loved by our little pups. A week later, I made bread, somewhat unsuccessfully. We were able to eat some right out of the oven, and it was delicious, but by the time it cooled I could have used it as a hammer. Bread fail. But hey, bread ain't the easiest thing to make, even with a mixer, so I wasn't super upset. Besides, I tried.
And then I made Mexican Wedding Cakes with pistachios and dried cherries. (The recipe's from Bon Appetit on Epicurious.)
Wow! These are amazing cookies, sort of like shortbread with yummy treats inside. And I used organic icing sugar for powdering the outside, which has a much lighter, softer and more natural taste. I love these cookies, and they were very easy to make. I wanted to bake them for Christmas but ran out of time, but I will definitely make these for the holidays this year. Cookie success! I'd love for you to make them too -- leave your comments here and let us know how they turned out!
Now I'm working on the second week's piece, and it's an artwork using ink, watercolour, and my new (to me) Royal typewriter, also a Christmas gift from the hubbie. I'm super excited about this piece, and look forward to telling you about it. Stay tuned!
